Twitter Embed This Tweet allows for the easy and quick transcription of Twitter messages in a visually appealing manner while retaining accessibility of HTML text. Instead of copying the text from Tweets and quoting it or copying the image of the Tweet you simply grab a line of code and the Tweet is displayed in all of its visual glory with plain text. This represents an excellent step forward for incorporating Twitter content into a wide range of websites and the SEO benefits are the icing on the cake.
How do Embedded Tweets Work?
Right now it appears that you have to input the individual tweet URL at Twitter Blackbird Pie. This will provide a HUGE block of code for you to add to your page to embed the Tweet. The output is nice and it provide links to the Twitter profile of the person who Tweeted, to the Tweet URL, platform, hastags, and to anyone who was @ responded to. The links to the Twitter App, @ responses, and hashtag links are all nofollowed. The Margarita Machine just arrived at work... now all I need is a Sombrero for tomorrow! #cincodemayo
The code generation interface is a little buggy right now but I suppose that is to be expected. I would hope that they add functionality to grab the code from a Tweet directly and eventually into applications, trim the code a bit, and clean up any bug issues. All in all this is a great idea and one that makes Twitter inherently more prolific due the ease in which Tweets can be shared. This is another interesting and timely feature from Twitter and I can’t wait to see what is next.
